North Yorkshire Council wildfire prevention policy Summer 2026
NYC has published details of its wildfire prention policy for Summer 2026. Details can be found here.
North Yorkshire Council plan 2026-2030
North Yorkshire Council has published its four year plan. It can be accessed here.
The plan is based around four key themes (each with supporting priority actions):
- support thriving places and empowered communities where people live, work, visit and do business across North Yorkshire
- develop more sustainable and connected places across North Yorkshire
- ensure the people of North Yorkshire are safe, healthy and living well
- maximise the potential of North Yorkshire’s people and communities.
NYC Older People's Champion Report
NYC Older People's Champion has presented a report to the NYC Care and Independence Committee. It can be viewed here.
Waste Recycling Centres
NYC is introducing a free registration scheme for the household waste recycling centres on Monday 27 April 2026. This will make sure that that the household waste recycling centres are only used by North Yorkshire residents who pay for the service through their Council Tax.
Registering will be free and you can do it online in a couple of minutes.

Yorkshire Air Ambulance have provided a free 10 minute video explaining CPR.

The NHS has provided details of its Choose Well Stay Well campaign to try and ensure that people can make the correct choices when they need advice or assistance.

Building an Age-Friendly Village
The Centre for Aging Better have produced a booklet with ideas for producing Age-Friendly Towns and Parishes. The booklet can be accessed here.
